Package: cups
Version: 1.3.8-1lenny4.1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable
Since upgrading from etch to lenny printing on polled printers fails:
user@client-host:~$ lpstat -p
printer mfp_4730 is idle. enabled since Thu 19 Mar 2009 10:38:44 CET
CEST
[...]
user@client-host:~$ lp -d mfp_4730 /tmp/cpuinfo
lp: The printer or class is not shared!
The server log looks like this:
/var/log/cups/access_log:
192.168.2.2 - - [19/Mar/2009:11:44:00 +0100] "POST / HTTP/1.1" 200 417

My Server config is quite lenny default plus one Allow line per Location
directive:

Listen /var/run/cups/cups.sock

Of course printing from any GUI e.g. kdeprint also fails.
Just for testing a attached an old printer on my local sever - which
works fine, however for my purpose cups is (since the upgrade) unusable
for me and all users on the network.
Cheers
Sigmund

Dear Debian User,
Further information on your issue was requested over two years ago but
there has been no response from you. Use of our limited, volunteer
supported resources is best served by not keeping open inactive bugs any
longer than desirable, especially when the package concerned is older
than the current stable Debian version. Consequently, the report is now
being closed.
You may, of course, wish to review the reported problem. It would be
appreciated if any future investigation could be conducted using the
testing or unstable distributions. If considered necessary, this report
could be re-opened or a new bug report, possibly referencing this one,
submitted. Please note there are now separate cups and cups-filters
packages.
Thank you for your report.
Regards,
Brian.
