Package: lxc
Version: 0.8.0~rc1-8+deb7u1
Severity: important

(I'm re-sending this report since I haven't heard anything from b.d.o in
 4h or so)

While upgrading lxc from 0.8.0~rc1-8 to 0.8.0~rc1-8+deb7u1 all containers
were aparently first stopped, but not restarted any more.

The upgrade was done with unattended-upgrade.

  root@breazy ~ # lxc-list
  RUNNING

  FROZEN

  STOPPED
    dum (auto)
    puzal-rils (auto)
    rugu (auto)
    squeeze

I've checked /var/log/* but there is no trace of something stopping and
forgetting to start the containers.

  # cat /etc/default/lxc
  # /etc/default/lxc

  LXC_AUTO="true"
  LXC_DIRECTORY="/var/lib/lxc"

  # ls -l /etc/lxc/auto/
  total 0
  lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 23 Jul 27 23:40 dum -> /var/lib/lxc/dum/config
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 31 Jul 29 00:44 puzal-rils -> /var/lib/lxc/puzal-rils/config
  lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 24 Jul 26 14:52 rugu -> /var/lib/lxc/rugu/config

Manually starting the containers with "lxc-start -d -name $name" worked.

Thanks,

--- Begin Message --- containers are not restarted on upgrades in the first place anyway, see postinst and the 'skip' things in the initscript.

if the containers were stopped, then that's a local issue - i cannot reproduce that here.
