ia32-libs-gtk ships the following libgio library:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 623K Sep 10 2010 /usr/lib32/libgio-2.0.so.0.2400.2
This corresponds to gtk 2.24 which is annoying since a lot of APIs have been
added in version 2.26 for DBus support. For instance
g_dbus_connection_signal_subscribe(), g_dbus_connection_send_message(), etc.
This causes any 32bit application that uses these APIs to fail to run on 64bit
Debian systems.
Note that the 64bit package ships the 2.28 version of this library:

Hi,
ia32-libs-gtk is now a transitional package to migrate to multiarch. As
such it no longer includes the libraries, but depends on the i386
packages available in the archive. This means users will always get the
current version and not a possibly outdated one.
