How does does it matter?`.desktop files do not need to be +x.
And anyway:
rene@frodo:~$ ls -l /usr/share/applications/*.desktop | grep ^-rwx
rene@frodo:~$
None of the originals has +x.
(And in any case, when I drag and drop in GNOME 3 in Fallback I do not get *any*
link on the desktop anyway.

There's nothing to fix here, the permissions of the .desktop files are
irrelevant, the *content* is what counts.
