`srcg1' is a RedHat 8 Samba system (`Samba
2.2.7-security-rollup-fix'). I don't see the crash against a Windows
2000 server. #197172 reports a similar error which is
locale-dependent, but this case doesn't seem to be locale-dependent.
I tried with both my normal en_GB and with the locale variables unset.
