If I try to add patches in debian/patches and build a source package, those patches don't get applied by dpkg-source, and no error is given. This makes it much harder to NMU catdoc, or (as I was trying to do) build a package for local use with a fix in. I've attached a patch for tarball.sh to exclude .pc.
