Package: xpdf
Version: 3.02-12+squeeze1
Severity: minor
Gnome doesn't show xpdf's icon in xpdf's windows but only a default icon
(although it does show the correct and specific icon in the application menu).
It didn't help to copy "xpdf.png" into "/usr/share/icons/hicolor/48x48/apps/"
or "32x32/apps/" as it is explained here :
http://standards.freedesktop.org/icon-theme-spec/icon-theme-spec-latest.html
(I guess xpdf is a "themed application").
The only xpdf icon I could initially find on my system was
"/usr/share/pixmaps/xpdf.xpm". I tried to I install package
"gnome-colors-common" : that put some "xpdf.png" in
"/usr/share/icons/gnome-colors-common/32x32" and other folders but didn't solve
the issue of missing window icons.
I also tried to modify the file "/usr/share/applications/xpdf.desktop" by
commenting the line "Icon=xpdf" or replacing it by "Icon=Iconxpdf", as it is
here :
http://mirrors.slackware.com/slackware/slackware_source/xap/xpdf/xpdf.desktop
There was no result.
I have seen an old redhat bug report for a problem of missing xpdf icon :
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=100780
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=200608
but it doesn't change anything to copy "xpdf.png" at
"/usr/share/icons/crystalsvg/48x48/apps/acroread.png", nor to install KDE basic
packages.
Thank you,
Jack Owen

Supporting this would probably require making use of a newer toolkit
like gtk versus lesstif. I'm closing the bug for now since its more
of an upstream feature request. If you have strong interest in this,
it may help to submit a feature request message upstream:
http://foolabs.com/xpdf.
Best wishes,
Mike
