Package: banshee
Version: 2.4.1-3+b1
Severity: wishlist
Dear Maintainer,
Currently, when an album or song is selected for playback, when finished,
Banshee always continues on with the next song or loops back to the beginning
to repeat what it just played. In other words it never stops playing ...
something - anything.
There should be a preference setting which asks Banshee to stop playing once an
album, Queue or song has finished playing.
The use-case for disabling loop back is to imagine a person selecting an album
to play, listening, then when finished - selecting another. This would mimic
the activity of playing single CD's or Records on older players. Currently,
with Banshee, a user must first recognize that their album has restarted from
the beginning, stop it, then select something else to listen to. I imagine
Banshee currently operates as if the "Loop back to Beginning" option were
selected on any other music player.
A checkbox located under Playback - Stop When Finished does not appear to
provide the required functionality. It is not clear what this switch is
supposed to do. It can be checked while a song is playing, but unchecks itself
after the song ends. Playback continues on with the next song as always.
I propose a checkbox under either Preferences - General or Preferences - Source
Specific - Music entitled "Loop playback". The checkbox would default to a
checked state and, when checked, mimic the current behaviour of Banshee. If
unchecked, Banshee would automatically stop playback once the current selection
completed.
Thanks.

On the bottom right corner, there is a button that allows you to change the
repeat mode. To disable looping, just set it to "Repeat off"
