Package: libwebkitgtk-1.0-0
Version: 1.4.2-2
Severity: normal

Hi!

I tried to watch HTML5 YouTube videos (see http://www.youtube.com/html5)
with midori, but I failed.

In order to check whether I have all the pieces to support HTML5
video tag and the most used formats, I used the following "testdrive"
page, as suggested by midori FAQ:
http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/Graphics/VideoFormatSupport/Default.html
Yes, it seems to be a page provided by MicroSoft... :p

I tested various WebKit-based browsers (after enabling JavaScript,
where required):

/usr/lib/webkitgtk-1.0-0/libexec/GtkLauncher fails on all the three
HTML5 formats (each video is replaced by an error message like
"Your browser cannot play $FORMAT content with the HTML5 video element.
The video could not be loaded, either because the server or network
failed or because the format is not supported.")

midori (which depends on libwebkitgtk-1.0-0) also fails on all the
three formats

/usr/lib/webkitgtk-3.0-0/libexec/GtkLauncher fails, too

epiphany-browser (which depends on libwebkitgtk-3.0-0) fails, as well

chromium (which is based on a modified version of WebKit, as far as I
understand) works correctly on all the three HTML5 formats, and this
makes me suspect that I have all the necessary libraries installed...

Hence, the issue seems to be in WebKit, but not in the modified
WebKit used by chromium.

I hope this bug may be fixed soon.
Thanks for your time!
