AFAIK, http://freshmeat.net/projects/dos2unix is not the canonical
homepage location, as freshmeat is just some opensource directory.

It is the canonical place to look for information about the project,
similar to the yellow pages. It contains all the relevant links and
announcements in a corent manner. User has also possibility to explore
other similar software.
Individual URL locations may change when projects move places but the
Freecode yellow pages stays in place pointing to the correct locations. hTe
author of this software is also the maintainer of the Freecode page.
