--- Begin Message ---Package: mysql-server-5.5 Version: 5.5.24+dfsg-4 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, After a recent upgrade of mysql-server I noticed that for an extended period of time mysqld was using in excess of 100% of cpu on an dual core machine. There were no connections to the database (I only use it for mythtv and all those instances were shutdown for maintenance). Following this I did a complete purge and re-install of all the mysql components - mysql-common mysql-client-5,5 mysql-server-core-5.5 mysql-server-5.5 This included ensuring that the datastore in /var/lib/mysql was deleted, as was /etc/mysql After this complete reinstall, with no other databases that the ones created by the package install the behaviour continued. I am considering a downgrade to 5.1 simply because this situation is untenable for a service that recieves minimal use. This was not a problem I had with 5.1, so I am confident that it has something to do with the 5.5 packages. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.2.2-kiev (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_AU.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_AU.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages mysql-server-5.5 depends on: ii adduser 3.113+nmu3 ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.44 ii initscripts 2.88dsf-28 ii libc6 2.13-34 ii libdbi-perl 1.622-1 ii libgcc1 1:4.7.1-2 ii libstdc++6 4.7.1-2 ii lsb-base 4.1+Debian7 ii mysql-client-5.5 5.5.24+dfsg-4 ii mysql-common 5.5.24+dfsg-4 ii mysql-server-core-5.5 5.5.24+dfsg-4 ii passwd 1:4.1.5.1-1 ii perl 5.14.2-12 ii psmisc 22.19-1 Versions of packages mysql-server-5.5 recommends: ii bsd-mailx [mailx] 8.1.2-0.20111106cvs-1 ii libhtml-template-perl 2.91-1 Versions of packages mysql-server-5.5 suggests: pn tinyca <none> -- debconf information excluded
