I found this out while trying to get KMail to use GnuPG in Squeeze:
Because of the resolution of Bug #305565, now kleopatra calls gpgconf which
adds a few lines to ~/.gnupg/gpg.conf
Among those:
debug-level basic
log-file socket:///home/<user>/.gnupg/log-socket
Sadly, these two lines confuse /usr/bin/gpg which is the back-end configured in
gpgme1, to the point that gpg refuses to run
.
There are two possible work-arounds:
* recompile gpgme1 from source enabling the gpg2 back-end.
* delete the offending lines *after* kleopatra has been loaded.
