On gdb excution as per #334122 I recieve:

All the import statements work just fine.

I can confirm that the following version DOES fix the problem:
ii  gramps  2.0.8-3 Genealogical Research and Analysis Management Program

As a follow up, here's what I get as output with the LANG set as 
requested with the NEW vesrion:

$ LANG=en_US LANGUAGE=en_US gramps
