Package: gnucash-docs
Version: 2.4.2-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer, I installed the gnucash-docs package without installing yelp.
Gnucash could not find the help files and complained that the
gnucash-docs was not installed. After installing the yelp package, gnucash
could display the help and tutorials.

I am under the impression that yelp should be a dependency and not only a
recommendation of gnucash-docs package.

Thank you.
Best regards,

I beg to disagree. The package can be useful without yelp, since you can
view the documentation in PDF or HTML. Also, there are users who don’t
want yelp to be installed when the install gnucash-docs, see this bug
report:

 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=448669

Finally, if yelp was not installed on your system, it means that you
have disabled automatic installation of recommends. If you have done
that, you must take care yourself of looking at recommends, and not be
surprised if something does not work entirely as you wish because a
recommended package is not installed.

Cheers,
