Package: udftools
Version: 1.0.0b3-12
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable
Although the /dev/pktcdvd/0 device is created correctly the hald/dbus-deamon
will automount inserted UDF-formated CD-RWs,
DVD+/-RWs via the /dev/hda or /dev/scd0 or whatever device. Files copied to
such discs will be hardly readable -> loss of data!
As a work-around I strongly suggest to deactivate auto-mounting via the
gnome-volume-manager (Preferences-> Removable Drives and
Media) and to add the dvd-writer to /etc/fstab to mount it the traditional way.
After overwriting the volume.device-setting for the DVD-writer with
/dev/pktcdvd/0 by using hald-policies the tray didn't open
correctly anymore. After opening it closed right ahead.
Unfortunately I didn't find a way to safely disable the DVD-writer's management
through hald/dbus.
