P.S. I don't know if this should be reported as a separate bug but left win key

This has been the case for a while, but is fixed in experimental.

It applied to all custom shortcuts that use Super (Windows, Mod4),
and to some of the built-in keyboard shortcuts - you could use the
Super key for shortcuts that are implemented in GNOME Shell, but not
for shortcuts that are actually implemented in gnome-settings-daemon.
This was because GNOME Shell has an exclusive grab on the Super key for its
Activities shortcut.

In GNOME 3.8, all keyboard shortcuts go via the Shell, solving that problem.
I've confirmed that Super+. can be used for a custom shortcut.
