Hi,
there a simple problem with bastille. Some packages, e.g. psad and freeswan
make changes to the ruleset. When bastille gets restarted to load new
firewall settings, these changes get lost. psad isn't there a big problem, I
think. But freeswan inserts forward rules and at some time surely more.

To get this to work, freeswan would in the simplest case have to unroute/
route and down/ up all connections. With this, all changes would get remade.
The bad is, that all connections would get lost.
A better solution would be to interact with the freeswan updown script. I
have done the last, but have to ask the freeswan maintainer for some changes
before this wouldn't violate debian policy (he has to include some hooks in
the updown script as it is in /usr/lib/ipsec).
Would you accept a patch to bastille, which uses this hooks to set up the
rules?

Regards
        Torsten
