pandoc currently supports both "strict" markdown and pandoc's own
incompatible standard. Please also parse MultiMarkdown.
I tried to send this request upstream, but was foiled by

Pandoc since 1.10 support "extensions", including some multimarkdown
features.
I dare treat this bug as solved. Please reopen and elaborate if some
features you need are still missing.

...or even better, file such bugs upstream instead - development has
moved to Github: https://github.com/jgm/pandoc/issues
