Hi,
The root cause of problem was gnome-control-center. So closing this
bug.
# bug 715568
After getting gnome-control-center and gnome-settings-daemon to be
compiled with --enable-ibus and fixing the http://bugs.debian.org/692453
locally with simple patch by me, I have no problem.
So after all this was not bug of this package.
Since this really had impact in experimental, I am closing here.
I will send patches to gnome-control-center and gnome-settings-daemon.
im-config is needed to get ibus running. So this should be fine with
fcitx's current approach though I do not like it much. Proper approach
should be gnome extension rather than autostart file. If fcitx
is allowed to do so ibus should be able to do the same. In that case,
we will face problem if both are installed. For now, I am not going to
make fuss about it.
My concern is more on ibus compatibility with other DMs.
But closing this bug is good idea now.
Plan:
Send patches for gnome-control-center and gnome-settings-daemon
Prep ibus-foo packages in experimental.
Maybe prep kkc.
Coordinate with RM for transition in unstable.
Upload to unstable.
# bug 699368
Also I am closing http://bugs.debian.org/699368 here since gnome 3.8
uses SUPER-SPACE soon if no objection. (Other DM, I have not tested
but on GNOME3). But since this may be still the case for other DM, I
should keep this bug as wishlist.
On GNOME3, xkb is non-issue since xkb and ibus are selectable as
default.
Osamu
