include static libraries as well. This can be enabled by supplying
"--enable-static" to the configure script. (I also had to add
"--with-allocator=std" locally.)

I requested the removal of ogre (1.7) in the following bug report:

The bugs that apply to 1.8 have been cloned (some already fixed).
