Package: xemacs21-basesupport
Version: 2003.01.27-1.1
Severity: normal

The ps-print xemacs package included in xemacs21-basesupport generates
printable Postscript, for example with the ps-spool-buffer command.

The output includes two prologue files

/usr/share/xemacs21/packages/etc/ps-print/ps-prin0.ps
/usr/share/xemacs21/packages/etc/ps-print/ps-prin1.ps

which are explicitly licensed under the GPL, and so the output must be
licensed under GPL compatible terms. However, no indication is given
to the user when invoking ps-print of the licensing and so the user may
presume they can distribute the generated Postscript under any terms
they like, unless they happen to read the raw Postscript.

I suspect this may simply be an oversight, and that the upstream authors
would be willing to add an exemption for the generated output. Failing
that, some form of warning should be given.
