Package: mount
Version: 2.12p-4
Severity: normal

Despite the documentation of -o posix,shortname=mixed, this still happens:

$ mount|grep $PWD
/dev/sdc1 on /mnt/usb/sd type vfat
(rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev,noatime,umask=0,posix,shortname=mixed,iocharset=cp950,user=jidanni)
$ touch cC Cc
$ ls ??
cC
$ mv cC Cc
mv: `cC' and `Cc' are the same file
$ ls -i CC ??
2417 CC  2417 cC
$ touch SD512
$ ls ?????
sd512

This seems to have been a kernel bug a long time ago and has since
been fixed by obsoleting the posix option ( as the man page shows ).
You no longer can create two files whose names differ only in case on
fat filesystems.
