Package: cdrecord
Version: 4:1.10-7
Severity: minor
In the man page
FILES
/etc/default/cdrecord
Default values can be set for the following options
in /etc/default/cdrecord.
and apparently there's no way for a user not to read this file, or read a
different rc file instead, unlike most other linux commands, which are
more flexible.
Or at least the man page doesn't mention how to get around it.
Also,
# cdrecord -scanbus
Cdrecord 1.10 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2001 Jörg Schilling
cdrecord: No such file or directory. Cannot open SCSI driver.
cdrecord: For possible targets try 'cdrecord -scanbus'. Make sure you are root.
Don't you think it is extremely silly that it tells me to try -scanbus
when that's what I just tried. Perhaps you could make it say
something more helpful in this case.
Maybe it could say read /usr/share/doc/HOWTO/en-html/CD-Writing-HOWTO-2.html

Some (long) time ago you filed this bug against the cdrecord/mkisofs/cdda2wav
package. In the meantime the package has been replaced by
wodim/genisofs/icedax.
If you can reproduce the same issue with one of the replacing packages (as
released with Debian 7.0 wheezy or later) please reopen and reassign the bug to
the new package and use
reportbug <new-package>
to send a follow-up containing updated system information.
Please note that unless it is reassigned to an existing package further
information sent to this bug is likely to remain unread, because the bug is
currently not assigned to any existing package.
Thank you for taking time to report bugs found in Debian packages.
Kind regards,
Andrei (with no relation to cdrtools or cdrkit maintenance)
