In Ubuntu, the attached patch was applied to achieve the following:
* Switch from autotools-dev to dh-autoreconf to get libtool updates.
* Explicitly set $LANGUAGE; the testsuite fails when it hasn't been.
The first change is the topic of this bug report. autoreconf happens
to pull in config.{sub,guess} updates for automake-using projects (like
this one), so dh-autoreconf ends up being a superset of autotools-dev,
and allows you to support zero-effort porting to even more arches, like
the ppc64el port that requires libtool updates.
While you're at it, the second half of this patch is a simple bugfix
that doesn't seem to have an impact on the Debian buildds, but was
biting me on the Ubuntu buildds. Setting LANGUAGE explicitly when
running the testsuite seems to be necessary if it's previously been
unset, and certainly doesn't do any harm in cases where things were
already working.
