--- Begin Message ---Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel Version: 2:2.2.1-2 Severity: important First, I am not sure if the problem is actually in xserver-xorg-video-intel, it might be in xserver-xorg-core, as I couldn't get any other video driver (i810, vesa, vga) to work either. The combination that works is: xserver-xorg-core 2:1.3.0.0.dfsg-12lenny2 xserver-xorg-input-kbd 1:1.1.0-4 xserver-xorg-input-mouse 1:1.1.1-3 xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.1.0-2 the combination that is broken is: xserver-xorg-core 2:1.4.1~git20080131-4 xserver-xorg-input-kbd 1:1.2.2-3 xserver-xorg-input-mouse 1:1.2.3-2 xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.2.1-2 (the mouse and kbd drivers need to be changed because of dependencies, but I don't think they are the problem). Now for the problem: Hardware: Display: Eizo S2431W TFT display with 1920x1200 resolution connected via DVI cable. Graphics Chipset: Intel Corporation 82865G Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02) With xserver-xorg-video-intel 2.1.0 this worked fine (except that the timing was slightly off and the display reported 1202 vertical lines - easily corrected with xrandr). After the upgrade to 2.2.1 the login screen of gdm is not visible - the display is flickering very rapidly, showing whitish clouds (which are probably an optical illusion induced by the flickering). The display reports 1920x1200 at 60 Hz. If I start the X server from the command line, the display is completely black, not even the mouse cursor is visible. Again, the display thinks that the signal is ok. I can switch between the text and graphics display, so the X server hasn't crashed. hp [System information removed because it is for a different system. The system is question is running lenny]
