Subject: libxml2: Reading from standard-input doesn't stop at EOF
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
X-Mailer: bug 3.3.10
Message-Id: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Date: Wed, 23 Jan 2002 15:32:00 +0000
Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Package: libxml2
Version: 2.4.13-1
Severity: normal

When xmlParseFile hits end-of-file, it keeps trying to read. Only after read()
has failed multiple times does it actually stop. This is a problem when reading
from standard-input, since it may be necessary to press Ctrl-D six times or
more to end the input!

Sample program:

        #include <parser.h>

        int main(void)
        {
                xmlDoc *doc;

                doc = xmlParseFile("-");

                return 0;
        }

Test it with:

$ gcc -o tree tree.c `xml2-config --libs --cflags`
$ ./tree

Enter anything here (valid XML or not). Ctrl-D must be pressed several
times before the program terminates.

Version: 1:1.2.3-7

This bug has recently been fixed, but the bug was not automatically closed.

This could have happened for at least two reasons:

* 1:1.2.3-7 was never actually released, and dpkg-genchanges was not given
  the -v option to include the applicable entries in the version that did
  get uploaded.
* Some kind of mail snafu between Debian hosts, within katie, or within the
  BTS.

Closing this bug as resolved.

zlib (1:1.2.3-7) unstable; urgency=3Dlow

  * Check for EOF properly in gzio (closes: #130557).
