Package: gnome-panel
Version: 2.6.2-3
Severity: wishlist

For some reason my X crashes from time to time, always when there are
GUi actions associated with mouse movement such as dragging something or
"mouseover" events.

But this time, after GDM restarted and I'd logged in again, GNOME
refused to work. The error message said

"I've detected a panel already running, and will now exit."

This is a bit annoying since I'll have to convince the panel somethow
that its previous incarnation has gone to join the choir invisible(*).
Is there any way to detect the problem more reliably and perhaps clean
up any remaining mess from the previous instantiation?

Jeroen

(*) i.e., it is no more. It's pushing up the daisies. It rests in
peace. It is an ex-panel.
