Tried to install aptitude on my own testing system and I get the
following message back from apt-get
# apt-get install aptitude

Thanks. It looks to me like the problem is that you can't install the
latest aptitude on testing without removing the packages listed there,
most likely because the libsigc++ version that went through the last C++
transition conflicts (it has to) with the old version. You might be able
to upgrade those other packages as well. Either way, this isn't a bug in
aptitude.
