Hi there,
I've just toggled high-contrast in the accessibility
drop-down in gnome-shell. In high-contrast mode, the
wallpaper is disabled and white is drawn instead.
However, if I un-toggle high-contrast mode, whilst the other
UI elements revert to normal (icons etc.), the wallpaper
remains all-white.
This is true for all workspaces, but if I move to the
"activities" view, my original wallpaper is drawn under the
expose-like window arrangement.
Visiting settings → background and re-selecting my wallpaper
redraws it again.
