--- Begin Message ---Package: kernel-package Version: 12.036+nmu1 Severity: normal I'm not sure this is the correct package to file this against, so if it's not please reassign accordingly. The control file built by the 'kernel_image' target contains the following line: Suggests: fdutils, linux-doc-2.6.38-interactive-3-atom | linux-source-2.6.38-interactive-3-atom, ksymoops, linux-image-2.6.38-interactive-3-atom-dbg The last suggested package, 'linux-image-2.6.38-interactive-3-atom-dbg', does not exist. I assume from 'man make-kpkg' that the '-dbg' package would be built if the 'kernel_debug' target were specified, but it was not. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.38-interactive-3-atom (SMP w/2 CPU cores; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to en_US.UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages kernel-package depends on: ii binutils 2.21.51.20110523-1 The GNU assembler, linker and bina ii build-essential 11.5 Informational list of build-essent ii debianutils 4.0.1 Miscellaneous utilities specific t ii file 5.04-5+b1 Determines file type using "magic" ii gettext 0.18.1.1-3 GNU Internationalization utilities ii make 3.81-8.1 An utility for Directing compilati ii module-init-tools 3.16-1 tools for managing Linux kernel mo ii po-debconf 1.0.16+nmu1 tool for managing templates file t ii util-linux 2.17.2-9.1 Miscellaneous system utilities Versions of packages kernel-package recommends: ii cpio 2.11-7 GNU cpio -- a program to manage ar Versions of packages kernel-package suggests: pn btrfs-tools <none> (no description available) ii bzip2 1.0.5-6 high-quality block-sorting file co pn docbook-utils <none> (no description available) ii e2fsprogs 1.41.12-4 ext2/ext3/ext4 file system utiliti pn grub | grub2 <none> (no description available) ii initramfs-tools [linux-initr 0.99 tools for generating an initramfs pn jfsutils <none> (no description available) ii libncurses5-dev [libncurses- 5.9-1 developer's libraries for ncurses ii linux-source-2.6 [linux-sour 1:2.6.38+34 Linux kernel source for Linux 2.6 ii linux-source-2.6.38 [linux-s 2.6.38-5 Linux kernel source for version 2. pn mcelog <none> (no description available) pn oprofile <none> (no description available) pn pcmciautils <none> (no description available) ii ppp 2.4.5-5 Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) - da ii procps 1:3.2.8-10 /proc file system utilities pn quota <none> (no description available) pn reiserfsprogs <none> (no description available) pn squashfs-tools <none> (no description available) ii udev 171-1 /dev/ and hotplug management daemo pn xfsprogs <none> (no description available) pn xmlto <none> (no description available) -- Configuration Files: /etc/kernel-pkg.conf changed: maintainer := Dominique Brazziel email := [email protected] priority := Low debian = '' CONCURRENCY_LEVEL=5 -- no debconf information

--- Begin Message ---Hi, The control file also contains the details of the dbg package, so the package relationships are not dangling. Of course, if the use chosees not to use the ./debian/rules binary target,, and only partially builds some of the contained packages, that is their prerogative, but the relationship is not voided. Note that the modules files will continue to have a pointer to where the debugging symbols of the modules will live, had the dbg package been built and installed. There is no way for the control file to be aware which binary packages will be built in the future (you can build the debug package in a separate invocation, for instance). At any rate, even if thepackage is not installed, a suggests relationship does no harm manoj -- Nothing is finished until the paperwork is done.
