Package: thunar-volman
Version: 0.8.0-2
Severity: important
Dear Maintainer,
Both USB mass storage devices (especially Android phones) and CD/DVDs
failed to be detected and showed in Thunar when plugged. This is already
reported upstream in several bugs, the most important #9193:
https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9193
In .xsession-errors (sorry, messages localized to spanish):
thunar-volman: Dispositivo USB no soportado.
thunar-volman: Tipo de dispositivo por bloque desconocido.
thunar-volman: No se pudo detectar el volumen en el dispositivo.
thunar-volman: Dispositivo USB no soportado.
thunar-volman: Dispositivo USB no soportado.
thunar-volman: Dispositivo USB no soportado.
thunar-volman: Dispositivo USB no soportado.
thunar-volman: Dispositivo USB no soportado.
thunar-volman: Dispositivo USB no soportado.
thunar-volman: Tipo de dispositivo por bloque desconocido.
These are the equivalent english messages:
thunar-volman: Unsupported USB device type.
thunar-volman: Unknown block device type.
thunar-volman: Could not detect the volume corresponding to the device.
This is not a consistent bug. sometimes the unit appears, vmost times,
not. It depends of the type of device. USB flash disks tend to show, but
not always.
Also this bug didn't exist in Debian Wheezy.

Thanks for providing this information and workarounds. I'm closing the
