After an upgrade to udev 0.70-1 (which forced a removal of hotplug), i
found that my cryptoflex eGate USB smartcard reader wasn't being
properly attached to the openct framework when it was automatically
plugged in.

Since i need the device to log into my workstation, this actually
locked me out completely, and i had to boot into recovery mode to fix
this. Not fun.

I found i could fix it by creating the attached /etc/udev/openct.rules
file (written by translating /etc/hotplug/usb/openct.usermap, though
i'm basically faking it), and linking to it in /etc/udev/rules.d/.

I'm not sure whether this should be a bug for udev or for openct, but
since /usr/share/doc/udev/README.Debian.gz seems to discourage
creating /etc/udev/rules.d files by other packages, i figure it should
be handled by udev.

(note also that there appear to be USB vendor/product ID pairs in
/etc/openct.conf as well, some of which don't seem to be covered by
this rule file: i don't know which of these are actually relevant for
udev).

Thanks for maintaining udev. It seems to be making great strides.
Hopefully it will settle down soon!

Regards,

        --dkg
