I want transparent encryption on a per-file basis for gmailfs.=20

08:07 < madduck> Seb: what we need now is some form of encryption so that=
=20
                 google cannot parse the contents of what we store on a=20
                 gmailfs.
08:07 < madduck> that would be cool!
08:07 < Seb> yep, I feel we need that too. I don't have *any* trust in the=
=20
             good people of Google :>
08:08 < madduck> well, i don't think cryptfs is going to do it...
08:08 < madduck> rather, gmailfs needs a hook for a filter on file content =
up=20
                 and download
08:08 < Seb> yeah, precisely
08:08 < madduck> and then simply encrypt the files symmetrically on upload =
and=20
                 decrypt them on download
08:08 < madduck> all transparently.
08:08 < Seb> file a bug on gmailfs ;)
08:08 < madduck> fine
08:08 < Seb> heh
08:09 < trave11er> ...and probably violate the user agreement
08:09 < lifeless> does gmailfs emulate a block device at all?
08:09 < madduck> lifeless: no
08:09 < madduck> trave11er: whatever... :)
08:09 < lifeless> maybe that would be the easiest approach :)
08:09 < madduck> bug about to be filed. last call for comments...
08:09 < madduck> lifeless: agreed.
08:10 < lifeless> then just layer cryptofs + md or whatever on top :)
08:10 < madduck> lifeless: won't work because then you will be transferring=
=20
                 the whole filesystem back and forth on every write.
08:10 < lifeless> madduck: 'wont work efficiently'
08:10 < Seb> madduck: you file faster than you speak, man :)
08:10 < lifeless> not 'wont work;
