*** Please type your report below this line *** At some point evince stopped
being able to open any files. Upon trying to open any normally supported file
type (pdf/ps/dvi/etc.), an error message pops up that says that the document is
a MIME type _other_ than the one the file actually is, and evince fails to open
the file. For instance, for pdf/dvi files:
* Error *
Unable to open document
Unhandled MIME type: 'application/octet-stream'
and for ps files:
* Error *
Unable to open document
Unhandled MIME type: 'text/plain'
This occurs for all pdf/ps/dvi files that I have tried, even though they report
the correct MIME type to all other applications.
Also, when attempting to open a file from within evince, pdf/ps/dvi files are
not listed in the file browser, except when the "All File" filter is selected.

Ah! You're brilliant! Thanks so much and I appologize for reporting this as a
bug. Strangely enough I did install beast right around the time that this
happened, so I assume that's what it is.
Again, thank you so much for taking the time to help. And, as always, thanks so
much for helping make Debian great.
