i tried to use caff for Noel Köthe's key, which has a user ID with an
e-mail address within the köthe.de domain.
http://köthe.de/ works fine, but the caff e-mails bounced due to
mishandling of the
I believe (see the attached exchange with Noel) that the right thing is
for the To: address should have the domain name converted to punycode
first if it is outside normal ascii.
It's possible that this should be fixed in Mail::Mailer directly (adding
a dependency on IDNA::Punycode?); if you think that's the case, feel
free to re-assign this bug to libmailtools-perl.

As far as I understand it is the job of the MUA to convert the IDN to
punycode http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punycode and then give it to the
MTA postfix. Your postfix is working correctly. caff doesn't support IDN
(as many other MUA).
If you want to send an email to IDN you need an email client which
support it.:) AFAIK evolution, thunderbird/icedove, outlook;) doesn't
support it.:(
So just don't sign it. IDN is more supported in the web than in email
communication. I added it because someone has to do the first step and
use it somehow and report bugs.;)

I was the recipient and the sender send me the error message. Shortly
after reopening he told me he uses wheezy and the fix is in a version
available in jessie. My fault to not match the header "User-Agent: caff
0.0.0.484" to the wheezy version.
