Hi!
While migrating a whole company from novell to linux I was confrontated
with the problem that no user was able to change the password from the
windows client (WinNT, Win2000, WinXP). The Process was simply hanging...
After a long time of debugging (because I thought I made a configuration
mistake) I found out, that the passwd dialog has changed!
So how to fix this:
Modify /etc/samba/smb.conf
change
passwd chat = *Enter\snew\sUNIX\spassword:* %n\n
*Retype\snew\sUNIX\spassword:* %n\n .
to
passwd chat = *Enter\snew\sUNIX\spassword:* %n\n
*Retype\snew\sUNIX\spassword:* %n\n
*passwd:\spassword\supdated\ssuccessfully*
this will fix the problem...
