Package: sane
Version: 1.0.4-1
Severity: wishlist
It would be great if the xscanimage procedure provided by the GIMP plugin would
return a handle to the scanned image(s). I see that there are some stubs for
non-interactive use, but I am asking for less than that. For a normal,
interactive invocation, keep a list (or even just the last) of the image IDs
resulting from scans, and return them.
This would allow scripts to be written, e.g. with script-fu, that prompted the
user to scan in an image, then perform some processing on it. I wanted to
write a script that did this, but found that it couldn't be done with the
current plugin.
Once 1.0.5 is packaged, I may look into making a patch for this, but I'd like
to hear some feedback on the idea.

Hello,
Instead scanimage you can use scanimage from the sane-backends package.
Scanimage is a command line scaning tools. For use in scripts, a command
line tool is more appropriate.
So I close is bug.
Thank you for spending your time helping to make Debian better with this
bug report.
