In its day, it was a great package, but the conditions for which it was designed (running X over dialup-speed connections) basically no longer exist, the package doesn't handle present extensions to the X11 protocol, and there is no one with any reason or desire to bring it up to date. In fact, running a plain X session of a compressed ssh tunnel can produce better results in some cases.
