Namely, sphinx/theming.py has unconditional "import sphinx_rtd_theme". Because of that, I am going to make python{,3}-sphinx depend on python{,3}-sphinx-rtd-theme. To avoid the circular dependency, can you please downgrade the "Depends:" on your side to "Recommends:" for both packages? It looks to me that "import sphinx_rtd_theme" will succeed even when Sphinx is not installed (but not vice versa).
