Upon startup from "/etc/init.d/dovecot start" dovecot-imapd immediately
shuts down with the following messages:
dovecot: Sep 21 13:08:33 Info: Dovecot starting up
dovecot: Sep 21 13:08:34 Error: Auth process died too early - shutting
down
dovecot: Sep 21 13:08:34 Error: child 1938 (auth) returned error 127
This behaviour started immediagely following a kernel upgrade from
2.4.18-1-686-smp to 2.6.8-1-686-smp.
Similar behaviour was also seen with dovecot-pop3d
