I believe the bug you reported has already been fixed. The confusing section now looks like this: --ignore-config Do not read configuration files. When given in the global configuration file /etc/youtube-dl.conf: Do not read the user configu ration in ~/.config/youtube-dl/config (% APPDATA%/youtube-dl/config.txt on Windows) and: mtime) into /etc/youtube-dl.conf and/or ~/.config/youtube-dl/config. On Windows, the configuration file locations are %APP‐ DATA%\youtube-dl\config.txt and C:\Users\<user name>\youtube-dl.conf. So, it appears the correct user-specific configuration file is `~/.config/youtube-dl/config'. The `--prefer-free-format' section now looks like: --prefer-free-formats Prefer free video formats unless a specific one is requested These bugs also appear to be fixed in upstream's README.md: https://github.com/rg3/youtube-dl/blob/master/README.md. I will mark the bug as `fixed', please close the bug report by sending email to [email protected] since https://www.debian.org/Bugs/Developer#closing suggests only submitter or maintainer should close the bug. -- System Information: Debian Release: stretch/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.1.0-1-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=zh_TW.utf8, LC_CTYPE=zh_TW.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages youtube-dl depends on: ii python 2.7.9-1 ii python-pkg-resources 18.0.1-2 pn python:any <none> Versions of packages youtube-dl recommends: ii libav-tools 6:11.4-2 ii mplayer2 [mplayer] 2.0-728-g2c378c7-4+b2 ii rtmpdump 2.4+20150115.gita107cef-1+b2 ii wget 1.16.3-3 youtube-dl suggests no packages. -- no debconf information
