Where does it show that? and are you sure you have 0.8.0-1 installed?
Try something like:
$ dpkg -l qemu
When I do "qemu -h" it prints:
QEMU PC emulator version 0.8.0, Copyright (c) 2003-2005 Fabrice Bellard
usage: qemu [options] [disk_image]
...
And on the monitor it prints:
QEMU 0.8.0 monitor - type 'help' for more information
