This bug was originally filed in 2006, and in 2013 we requested more
information from the submitter. This is not an actionable bug, with only a
single screenshot stating that font smoothing is "ugly" but without
specifying which fonts in the image are the ugly ones; what is wrong with
the smoothing; and what settings for e.g. fontconfig were used to give this
problematic behavior.
And the font stack has changed substantially over the past 9 years, so even
with that information it is unlikely that the bug would be reproducible in
the same way today.
So I'm closing this bug report. If you can still see problems with fonts,
and can describe more precisely what you think is wrong with them and how we
can reproduce the problem for ourselves, please feel free to reopen.
