Package: notification-daemon
Version: 0.4.0-1
Severity: important

I am not sure exactly where the problem lies, but after some time
notification-daemon appears to stop responding to requests by
applications. For example, when using the preview button in
notification-properties, it freezes for a few seconds and finally
displays the following error:

"Error while displaying notification: Did not receive a reply.
Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply,
the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout
expired, or the network connection was broken."

Killing notification-daemon causes the problem to go away since
another daemon is started the next time an application tries to
display a notification, but sooner or later it stops responding again.

Hi,

I am closing these bugs as they are either unapplicable to modern
notification-daemon versions, cannot be reproduced, or are unrelated to
the project.

If you think one of the bugs still applies to notification-daemon 3.18, please
feel free to reopen it. Also feel free to reply to me in private if you have
any questions.

I want to highlight that the Notification Daemon is a standalone program that
shows notifications sent via FreeDesktop.org Notifications interface.

Notification Daemon is *not*:

- a tool to *send* the notifications (notify-send is such a tool);
- a tool to display system information like volume/brightness level (this
  functionality is provided by i.e. gnome-flashback);
- a panel applet;
- an official part of GNOME project (GNOME Shell uses its own notifications
  system).
