The problem with your bug report is that it does not contain enough information to permit to debug the problem and it is not clear what the problem actually is. Was the disk you were using for installation to small? What was in /var/log/syslog.1 ? How big was /var/log/syslog.1? How big was the disk? How come there is a /var/log/syslog.1, which is a rotated log file, when you were apparently installing a fresh system? It would be best if you'd contact a Debian support channel where people can potentially guide you along.
