I've tried extensively to reproduce the behaviour you faced, but I was
not able at all. A couple of developers confirmed the same situation.
The program starts normally (with some GEGL warnings in console, but
it's related to the port-hacking for GEGL 0.3.x) and it can be used to
work.
So, I'm closing this bug report.
If you'd face again the same issue, please feel free to re-open it.
Cheers.
