Package: apt-file
Version: 2.5.2.3
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,
i have modified my /etc/apt/sources.list ( and /etc/apt/preferences ) to
include the ubuntu repository for the supported versions. I have attached it
for completeness.
Run apt-file update produce some "Ignoring source without Contents File".
This is due why apt-file look for the wrong path for the Contents-*.gz file.

For example, for the current stable lts trusty release, apt-file look
respectively at:

http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/trusty/main/Contents-amd64.gz
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/trusty/universe/Contents-amd64.gz
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/trusty/restricted/Contents-amd64.gz
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/trusty/multiverse/Contents-amd64.gz

but the correct path is:

http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/trusty/

In the latest version 2.5.2.3ubuntu1 uploaded in utopic, this seem fixed, but i
havent' tested yet.

Thanks.

In apt-file/3.0~exp (and later), we will use apt's acquire system to
fetch the files and it is aware of the old mirror layout.

Thanks,
