Package: reportbug
Version: 6.6.3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Reportbug says that the version of the package is out of date but it is not
true.

Example :
reportug pk-update-icon

"Getting status for pk-update-icon...
Checking for newer versions at madison...

Your version (2.0.0-1~bpo8+1) of pk-update-icon appears to be out of date.
The following newer release(s) are available in the Debian archive:
  stretch: 2.0.0-1
  unstable: 2.0.0-1"

The 2.0.0-1 release is not newer than 2.0.0-1~bpo8+1.

Regards.

actually, it is, at least in the debian package versions comparison sense:

$ dpkg --compare-versions 2.0.0-1 gt 2.0.0-1~bpo8+1 ; echo $?
0
