There are two apps that come with kdevelop3: kdevassistant and
kdevdesigner. Both apps look for their respective start-up splash-pngs in
/usr/share/apps/kdevelop
kdevelop3 itself looks for its splash-png in
/usr/share/apps/kdevelop3
However, the debian package I installed from (testing or unstable) put
all three pngs into
/usr/share/apps/kdevelop3
with the result that both kdevdesigner and kdevassistant crashed at
start up. I fixed it by doing
cp -r /usr/share/apps/kdevelop3/pics /usr/share/apps/kdevelop/pics
