Package: sysvinit-core
Version: 2.88dsf-53.4
Control: clone -1 -2
Control: reassign -2 upstart 1.11-4
Control: upstart: please conflict with systemd-sysv

Hi sysvinit & upstart maintainers,

In the referenced thread on d-d@ I said I wouldn't consider apt not
being able to install gnome and an init system at the same time as
that much of a problem, but nevertheless, I tried figuring out why
apt has such a hard time with this and the reason is simple:
A few negative dependencies are missing to get the picture.

At the moment:
systemd-sysv conflicts with sysvinit-core and upstart.
upstart conflicts with sysvinit-core.
sysvinit-core conflicts with nothing.
while all of them have file-conflicts with each other.

These two bugreports are hence asking to get all three packages to
declare that they are mutually exclusive as this isn't only helping
package managers to figure this out, but is more correct, too. :)

(I guess you can come up with a policy reasoning to make this RC but
I am too lazy at the moment to search for the exact paragraphs to quote
and the practical effects of those missing are pretty limited, so…)

Best regards

David Kalnischkies
